Big revision guide – part 2

mock-exam-sign

All your revision personal learning checklists (PLCs) in one place for every topic are attached. These break each topic down into small questions that help you realise what you know and what you don’t know. They don’t provide such an overall linked up way of revising as the skeleton cards (which you can find here) but they do give you the chance to revise detailed manner and see what you need to do first by pointing out gaps in your knowledge.

Personally i would start by using these to check what I think I know and think i dont know, then use the skelton cards and then come back again when id finshed the topic use the PLC once more.

The links for them are here Eduqas GCSE B Geography PLC

Revising an HIC Global City – Sydney

sydney

Firstly Sydney comes in the global cities topic (along with mumbai -see this revision page) you can find the PLC and skeleton revision card for this topic on these two links global cities    global cities PLC

Here is a list of what you need to know (shortened from the PLC)

  1. Describe how migration and natural population growth have caused Sydney’s growth.
  2. Explain how the growth of Mumbai has affected the social and economic features of the city and how it has become harder to manage sustainably.
  3. Describe and evaluate the different ways that people have tried to manage these economic, social and environmental problems.

Mr Hunt has produced this excellent all in one basic revision resource that covers everything you need to know (but you will also need to evaluate the ways people have tried to manage Sydney’s problems). It is centred on the text book, but if you don’t have access to that you could still try to do this at home and check it when you get into a geography classroom. Link is here Sydney

This is the revision lesson presentation you will have or have already had. Following the instructions on this (you will need a copy of the text book) will help you get a complete grounding in all that you need to know. 2 Sydney revision

This video is all about how Sydeny is trying to sustainably manage their parks and walk ways and public spaces. Watch this and write down all the sustainable benefits you can think of (people and environment remember) For top top work (grades 6-9) use this table to write your notes on sustainable management. It classifies them by the Egan wheel and would enable you to get the best marks if you could use it well in the exam. Egan and Sydney

Here is a old post with 2 videos on Sydney’s transport problems and how people have tried to manage the sustainably. There are questions I have written as well to help you notice the ‘useful stuff’.

This revision task goes further than the one above and is best if you are aiming for a grade 5 and above. It gives you some information that you can take notes on and then test yourself, but there are also some gaps so you have to research and find this information in your book or the text book. This (if you do test yourself on it) is a good resource to revise from. Mumbai revision notes

Here is video to show what Mumbai looks like frm the air

The first 1:53 of this is excellent on how Mumbai is a global city. The rest of it is excellent on some of the social, economic and environmental problem Mumbai faces

Finally, if you want to see the powerpoint of the lesson you were taught on this in year 10. so you could do some of the work from it (maybe slides 10-15) here it is. mumbai lessons complete 2018
