Sample of Tourism Case Study based questions

You could use these exam questions to help you revise the tourism topic. Then mark the questions yourself and get your marking checked by your teacher

2013 Higher Use a case study to discuss how well an extreme environment is coping with the development of a tourist industry (8 marks)

2010 foundation Describe how a named area with an extreme environment is coping with an increasing number of tourists. (6 marks)

2013 foundation For an ecotourism area or scheme that you have studied, describe the features that make it sustainable. (6 marks)

2013 Higher Use a case study to explain how ecotourism has contributed to sustainable development. (8 marks)

2014 higher and foundation describe how the negative effects of mass tourism can be reduced. (4 marks)

2012 higher and foundation Outline 2 reasons why a coastal resort you have studied attracts large numbers of tourist (4 marks)

2015 higher ‘Effective management strategies are the key to the continuing prosperity of tourist areas in the UK.’ Use a case study of either a UK National Park or a UK coastal resort to explain this statement.(8 marks)

Why go on holiday to Antarctica?

the answer in the exam is: people have more enemy for such expensive holidays these days (called disposable income), the wonderful scenery can be seen with less hardship and more comfort than in previous times, people like the idea of visiting “environmental” destinations.

Also the idea of adventure holiday: e.g. scuba diving, rock climbing, extreme skiing kayaking etc is very popular…. if all that doesn’t make sense then watch this video to get an idea of the Antarctica’s attractions

We have studied Antarctica as an example of an extreme environment that has tourists.

I have typed up a more detailed revsion guide which can be found here….. It covers all 4 areas on Antarctica you need to revise. I have tried not to repeat too many of the notes and work you already have in it.

Effective Revision

Here is another video made by Mr Anderson where he sounds all serious. This time it is about how to plan and get started with your revision and how to make it EFFECTIVE. Tourism is the example used. but this approach would work with any topic in any subject.
