I won’t link to all the resources on this blog for these 3 case studies. I am sure you can use the category cloud and find them. But here is a link to the skeleton revision cards I have produced that show the sections within each case study you need to know

This revision lesson is partly based around the excellent www.coolgeography.co.uk website
It covers housing in richer cities and squatter settlements in poorer ones. It looks at brown and greenfield sites and includes a link to an excellent Water Aid video. This means you are also revising the development gap project and ideas of aid and sustainable aid and international aid
The water aid video mentioned in the last 2 slides can be found here
What a lot of revision 🙂
This BBC page is good fo looking at the lives of real people in Rocinha
also the motor bike taxi ride video at the bottom of the page is EXCELLENT
Wonderful video giving you an insight into growing up in Kibera, a shanty town in Kenya, East Africa. Listen to the girl’s story and look at the environment she grows up in, her journey to school and how she values hard work to improve her community in the future
The lovely people at Channel 4 are hoping you with your GCSE Geography. They have written an article on foreign tourists going to Kibera as part of their vacation itinerary. Read this article and think to your self:
Are local people benefiting economically or socially?
Is this a type of sustainable tourism? How could you make it more sustainable?
Will it improve quality of life or standard of living in Kibera? How could their lives be improved more?
What do the tourists learn from their experience? What else do you think they could learn? Why might this be of more benefit for them and for people living in Kibera?

I found this useful powerpoint presentation on slideshare. It is structured for a GCSE class doing our course. It has useful video links and some handy information too
