The BBC covered how the technology-loving nation of Japan made good use of its unique innovations and social networks in the aftermath of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami that followed.This includes mobile phone technology, apps for tablets, electric cars charging your house (!)

Latest News on Tourists damaging the antarctic

Read this BBC news article about the damage visitors can bring in to the environment through their clothes and shoes. Because they are carrying on average 9 seeds each when they come ashore they are bringing in alien species to the Antarctic. This is damaging the fragile ecosystem there.

Y11 Tsunami Then and Now Photos

Look at these pairs of photos taken just after the tsunami had happened and then again recently. Look at what as been achieved in repairing but also think about what else still needs to be done. This is what the LONG TERM PROBLEMS are that we have talked about in class.
